Pere Marquette 21 was a car ferry on Lake MI
She was built at Manitowoc in 1924 and was just under 348 feet long. She was powered by two triple expansion steam engines with 2,700 h.p. She was lengthened 40 feet in 1953 and given refitted with two Skinner steeple compound, Una-flow steam engines for a combined h.p. of 4,500. She was laid up in June 1972 and sold July 17, 1973. She was converted into a barge at Milwaukee, and sank in a storm off Honduras in 1980.pere marquette 21 lake miimg972img970img969img966

Patty McCabe - there is still a ferry that goes between Lludington MI and Manitowoc WI. It’s called the SSBadger. So beautiful up around Lundington…miss going every summer.
