Florence Torrenga Koning
I don’t have an exact date on these – they were more than likely taken in the late 40’s or early 50’s judging from the film used. The spotching you see around the edges is because the negs are a little warped. But I think otherwise they look good.
This is my Great Grandmother, Florence Torrenga Koning, she was my Mom’s favorite Grandmother. My Mom tells me wonderful stories about her and how Mom would “run away” to her Grandmother’s House. If she was upset at home she’d call her Grandma Koning up and she’d come and get her.
Some facts from the family history: Born October 29, 1892, married in 1916 to George Koning (he died in 1946), died October 3, 1966.
Three daughters: Kathrine (Kate) (my Grandmother) married to W J McGreevy, Celia married to Menlo Pridemore, and Margarate (Midge) married to Russell Coley.
One son: John Fredrick Koning
Reading through the family history is a challenge, but it seems like my Grandmother Kate, Great Grandmother Florence (pictured below), Great Great Grandmother Celia Vanderkleed, and Great Great Great Grandmother Rebecca de Jong lived in and around Lafayette and the Shadeland area since 1848. Our ancestors on this side of the family, were from the Netherlands.
