1962 Loeb Stadium – Columbian Park

Although it wasn’t officially Loeb Stadium until 1971 – it was simply known as the Columbian Park Recreational Center. It is the home of the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos, and it also serves as home to the Colt World Series since 1973

These are from the Kodachrome files – Lafayette Jefferson High School.

In from Uncle Mike: “Joe Eylens is number 24. Lafayette American Legion baseball Team. This was the year we finished 2nd in the state, but we should’ve gotten first. The umpire missed a call at home plate which cost us the championship. I had tagged a player out. Needless to say, it was lucky the umpires left when they did…the crowd wasn’t too happy! Jack Hockema and I had to go before the church board and ask forgiveness for playing on Sunday.”
